
On July 2, 2025, the Western Branch of the National University of Mongolia (Khovd), together with the Ministry of Education, the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, the Mongolian Bar Association, and other MONEUL partners organized the Human Rights Education Symposium 2025.
The event brought together high-level participants, including Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission Sunjid, former President and Ambassador Enkhbayar, members of Parliament S. Erdenebold and Baasanjargal, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education Batjargal, and representatives from the Western Branch of the National University of Mongolia (Khovd).
This biennial symposium has grown into an open and dynamic platform for discussion, engaging educators, governmental and non-governmental organizations, legal professionals, and international partners. The focus is on integrating human rights education effectively into curricula across all levels of the Mongolian education system.
In anticipation of the symposium, over 30 researchers participated in a presentation competition on “How human rights education is integrated into the Mongolian education system and compared with international experience,” with selected speakers sharing their work publicly.
Discussions led by Otgonbaatar and Tuya from the National Institute for Educational Research explored ways to incorporate human rights education into preschool, school, vocational, technical, and higher education programs. Teachers of the Western Branch of the National University of Mongolia (Khovd) who are participating in the MONEUL project, presented the project and recommended including content on human rights in the the European Union across the educational levels of preschool education, school education, vocational and technical education, and higher education.
